As a student-athlete at USD, Taylor took the “student” part seriously, learning about the human body and earning a degree in Kinesiology and Sport Science. After graduating with honors, he found his degree easily applied at the cycling shop he now owns in Okoboji, IA, sharing information to optimize training and prevent injuries for local cyclists, runners, and triathletes from all backgrounds and ages, as young as 14 up through 72. Being that Okoboji is a small town, it also didn’t take him long to spot his future wife, Olivia, out for a run. He happily claims she is now a runner by nature and a cyclist by marriage.
Taylor believes exercise is a big piece of the pie that adds health and joy to life. While competing throughout the years, he found himself frequently approached by friends seeking his insights on various aspects of life, training, and racing. These questions and his interest in helping others succeed continued to grow organically over time. When he crossed paths with Spokes, it was a natural decision to officially start a coaching career.
